Clover Time Grimoire Tier List
This is the Clover Time grimoire tier list: all ten launch books, ranked — and, unlike most Clover Time tier lists, backed by the ability numbers the developer actually published. Every damage figure, cooldown and scaling stat below is taken from the official card for that grimoire.
Clover Time grimoire tier list: all 10 books ranked
| Tier | Grimoire | Rarity | Chance | Abilities | Best published hit | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Anti Magic | Mythic | 0.5% | 11 | Demonic Advance — 110 | The largest ability list in the game — eleven published moves — and the only book that awakens, gated behind the Devil race. |
| S | Poison | Epic | 3% † | 3 | Poison Bullet — 49 | Damage over time plus a controllable clone that holds boss attention. Three abilities that punch well above the Epic band. |
| A | Ice | Uncommon | 30% | 4 | Absolute Zero — 200 | Uncommon rarity, best-in-game single hit. Absolute Zero is published at 200 base damage — higher than anything on the Legendary or Mythic books. |
| A | Explosive Flame | Epic | 3% † | 10 | Not published | Ten card entries across two stances — eight distinct names — and the second-largest kit at launch. Damage figures are not published at all. |
| A | Battle Lightning | Legendary | 1.5% | 6 | Not published | Six abilities and a transformation in development. Legendary rarity; no damage numbers published, so the ranking rests on kit size alone. |
| B | Chain | Rare | 15% | 4 | Chain Heavy — 180 | Polarising. Chain Heavy (180) and Chain Stun (100) are the second and third highest published hits, but the rest of the kit is slow. |
| B | Snow | Common | 50% † | 4 | M1 — 21 | Four abilities including a 32-second ultimate that needs 50 stat points. Solid but nothing it does is best in class. |
| B | Water | Common | 50% † | 3 | M1 — 21 | The weakest published damage profile — 2 per tick and 5 per projectile on its main abilities. |
| C | Earth | Common | 50% † | 3 | Stone Edge — 95 | Three abilities with no utility, no crowd control and a top hit of 95. |
| C | Fire | Common | 50% † | 3 | Fire Ball — 95 | The smallest kit in the game at three abilities, and it shares its damage figures with Earth. |
† Band rate, not a per-book rate. The developer publishes odds per rarity band. Two bands pool several books — Common holds four and Epic holds two — so for those rows the figure is the chance of any book in that band, not of that specific grimoire. The per-book split is not published and is not guessed here. The grimoire tables carry the same marker alongside the expected-roll maths.
Why a rarer Clover Time grimoire is not always stronger
Clover Time's own numbers make the case better than any tier list can. Ice sits in the Uncommon band at 30% — six times more likely than Explosive Flame — and its Absolute Zero ability is published at 200 base damage. That is the highest published hit in the launch game, ahead of every Epic, Legendary and Mythic ability.
Chain shows the same thing from the other direction. It is only Rare, yet Chain Heavy (180) and Chain Stun (100) are the second and third highest published hits. Meanwhile the Legendary book, Battle Lightning, has no damage figures published at all.
The rarity bands tell you how hard a grimoire is to roll. They say nothing about what it can do.
For the drop rate of every band, the expected number of rolls and the spins needed for a 50% or 90% chance, see the grimoire tables — that page also carries the tower's official pity ladder.
Every Clover Time grimoire in full
The ranking above is the verdict on each Clover Time grimoire. Every book has its own page with the complete published ability table — base damage, cooldown, the cumulative stat-point gate and the scaling stat — plus the pity ceiling that applies to its rarity band. The four Common books share one page instead, because they publish the same basic attack and two of them share a top hit. Where the developer has published no figures, those pages say so instead of guessing.
- Anti Magic — S tier, Mythic at 0.5%, 11 abilities, best hit Demonic Advance at 110
- Poison — S tier, Epic at 3%, 3 abilities, best hit Poison Bullet at 49
- Ice — A tier, Uncommon at 30%, 4 abilities, best hit Absolute Zero at 200
- Explosive Flame — A tier, Epic at 3%, 10 abilities, no damage figures published
- Battle Lightning — A tier, Legendary at 1.5%, 6 abilities, no damage figures published
- Chain — B tier, Rare at 15%, 4 abilities, best hit Chain Heavy at 180
- Earth, Fire, Snow, Water — the Common band, B–C tier and 3–4 abilities each. All four are compared on one page, because they publish the same basic attack and two of them share a top hit.
A note on the Clover Time grimoire scaling stat
Nine of the ten grimoires scale their abilities off Power, and put every point there. The exception is the basic M1 attack, which every grimoire scales off Strength — so a Strength build does nothing for your spell damage. This single line explains the most common complaint from new players who feel weak after rolling a good book.
Which Clover Time grimoires to keep and which to reroll
- Keep immediately: Anti Magic, Poison, Ice.
- Keep and build around: Explosive Flame, Battle Lightning, Chain.
- Fine to progress with: Snow, Water.
- Reroll when you can afford it: Fire, Earth — both have three-ability kits with no utility.
Do not reroll away a workable setup to chase an S tier immediately. Race, class and trait all stack on top of the grimoire, so a mediocre book with a strong passive set will outperform a good book with nothing behind it. Bank crystals, keep playing, and replace one slot at a time.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best grimoire in Clover Time?
Anti Magic and Poison lead the PvE tier lists published in the first week of release. Anti Magic has the largest ability list at eleven moves, and Poison pairs damage over time with a controllable clone that holds a boss in place.
Is the rarest Clover Time grimoire the strongest?
No, and Ice is the proof. Ice sits in the Uncommon band at 30%, yet its Absolute Zero is published at 200 base damage — higher than any ability on the Legendary or Mythic books. Judge a grimoire by its moveset, not its rarity colour.
Can I keep more than one Clover Time grimoire?
Community documentation reports one equipped and one stored, with a third roll forcing you to replace one. Treat that as community-reported rather than developer-confirmed, and check your own inventory before spending crystals.
How was this Clover Time grimoire tier list put together?
The tier letters are the consensus across community tier lists from the launch week — there is no official developer ranking. The evidence behind them is official: every damage figure, cooldown and scaling stat is taken from the card for that grimoire on the developer board, and where the numbers and the consensus disagree, the numbers win.
