Clover Time Awakening
A Clover Time awakening is a grimoire's second form — a transformation with its own ability set. As of 8 Oct 2026, one of the ten launch grimoires has one published, and it is documented end to end. The only second case the board ever showed — two locked slots on Battle Lightning — came off its card that day, so this page keeps that record dated rather than presenting it as current. Here is what is published, what is merely reported, and how to trigger the awakening that exists.
What an awakening actually is
An awakening in Clover Time is not a prestige system, a separate character or a second skill tree. It is the same grimoire, transformed: the board's own heading for it is "Second Form", and the page carries a different set of abilities with its own damage and cooldown figures. Nothing about your base kit is replaced — the awakening adds to it.
That has a practical consequence people miss: an awakening is only as good as the grimoire it belongs to. There is no point chasing an awakening on a grimoire you would not otherwise keep — the grimoire tier list is the place to settle that first.
Which grimoires have an awakening published
This is the question the board answers most clearly, by omission. Filtering all ten grimoire cards for anything an awakening is mentioned in leaves exactly one of them:
| Grimoire | Band | Awakening on the board | State |
|---|---|---|---|
| Earth | Common | Not mentioned | — |
| Fire | Common | Not mentioned | — |
| Snow | Common | Not mentioned | — |
| Water | Common | Not mentioned | — |
| Ice | Uncommon | Not mentioned | — |
| Chain | Rare | Not mentioned | — |
| Explosive Flame | Epic | Not mentioned | — |
| Poison | Epic | Not mentioned | — |
| Battle Lightning | Legendary | Two slots, withdrawn 8 Oct 2026 | Withdrawn |
| Anti Magic | Mythic | Second Form, with a full ability list | Documented |
"Not mentioned" is not a claim that these books will never awaken — it means the developer board says nothing about it, and we do not fill that gap with an assumption. Skills, numbers and unlock costs for each book are on the grimoire list.
Anti Magic — the only awakening documented end to end
The Mythic grimoire is the reference implementation. Its card carries a Second Form section with artwork, in-fiction text and a full ability set, which makes it the only awakening a player can currently plan around.
The most useful thing in that section is the split. The board groups the kit into two blocks, and counting them gives a shape worth knowing before you invest: 5 abilities in the first form and 6 in the second, out of eleven published in total.
| Second form ability | Base damage | Cooldown | Points required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Divider | 80 | 13s | 35 |
| Demonic Advance | 110 | 22s | 45 |
| Demonic Persecution | 110 | 22s | 55 |
| Anti Magic Tornado | 80 | 22s | 45 |
| Grand Slicer | 80 | 12s | 45 |
| Demonic Cataclysm | 110 | 22s | 45 |
What the awakening actually changes
The awakening is not a cosmetic reskin, and the board's own damage figures are what prove it. Comparing the strongest published hit in each half of the Anti-Magic kit gives the single clearest measure of what an awakening buys:
| Half of the kit | Abilities | Highest published hit |
|---|---|---|
| First form | 5 | Dual Slashes — 68 |
| Second form (awakened) | 6 | Demonic Advance — 110 |
That is the whole argument for awakening in one comparison: the ceiling rises from 68 to 110, a jump of about 62%, and three abilities in the second form reach that top figure. So the awakening does not just add options — it raises the damage ceiling of the grimoire you already have.
Note what the awakened half is not: it is not a replacement. The first-form abilities stay available, which is why the published kit is eleven abilities rather than six, and why an awakening is a burst window rather than a new class.
How to trigger the awakening
The board publishes two facts about the trigger and nothing more: when your bar is full, press the (G) key. That is the whole gate as far as the developer has said — the awakening is deliberate and on demand, not automatic, and it is tied to a meter rather than to a cooldown.
What the board does not say is what fills the bar, how quickly, or whether it decays. We are not going to guess a fill rate for it.
The awakening sits at the end of the same stat-point track
This is the detail that actually changes how you level. The second-form abilities are not unlocked by a separate currency or a quest — they are the highest-cost entries in the same skill list. The Anti-Magic awakening starts at 35 points and runs up to 55, which is the top of the kit.
So there is no "unlock the awakening" step to hunt for. You reach it by levelling, and the practical question is only whether to keep pushing points after you have the abilities you actually use. The ability-by-ability unlock order, including which of the eleven is the most efficient rather than the hardest-hitting, is on the Anti-Magic grimoire page.
Battle Lightning — the awakening that came off the board
The Legendary grimoire is the counter-example in a different way now. Up to 1 Oct 2026 its card described two awakening slots, both marked as in development and both locked; on 8 Oct 2026 the whole card text was replaced by a gameplay clip, and the slots went with it. Nothing else on the board carries them. We keep them here — dated, and marked as no longer published — because they are the only evidence the board has ever given that a second grimoire has an awakening coming:
| Slot | Awakening | Board status |
|---|---|---|
[B] | Thunder God | Locked (Bloqueado) |
[N] | Elf Ascension | Locked (Bloqueado) |
As published on the card up to 1 Oct 2026, withdrawn 8 Oct 2026. The board writes the locked state in Portuguese as Bloqueado; the slot labels [B] and [N] are reproduced as published and are not explained anywhere on the card. We are not going to invent a meaning for them, and we are not going to keep presenting a withdrawn entry as current either.
Two awakening slots on one grimoire — neither playable — was the clearest signal the board had given that awakenings are being built out rather than finished, and it is the reason this page still keeps the record after the card was emptied. It is also a reason not to treat any awakening rumour as settled: the pattern so far is that the board shows a slot long before it shows numbers, and — as of 8 Oct 2026 — that it can take the slot away again without a word. The same event is recorded on the Battle Lightning grimoire page, with the six ability names that came off the card alongside these two slots.
The Devil race gate — reported, not published
Community sources consistently report that the Anti-Magic awakening requires the Devil race. It is not written anywhere on the developer board, and this site labels it as reported wherever it appears rather than mixing it in with the published figures.
It matters because of the arithmetic. Devil is the rarest race in the game, and the board publishes two different numbers for it: 0.1% on the card's own rarity field and 0.2% in the board's grouping label. Unlike the grimoire tower, race rolls have no pity counter at all, so a median of about 693 spins is not backed by any ceiling.
Put next to the tower, that inverts the build. The grimoire half has a published ceiling of 250 Crystal Mana, so it ends by construction. The race half has no ceiling, which makes it the real bottleneck if the reported gate is correct. Full odds, both probability sets and the stat boosts each race grants are on the races page, and the build order that assumes this gate is on the how to get Asta page.
What is not published
- Bar mechanics. The board says a full bar and the (G) key. It does not say what fills the bar, how fast, or whether it decays.
- A per-book awakening list. nine of the ten grimoires have no awakening section. That is a gap in the data, not a confirmation of absence.
- The Devil race requirement. Reported by players, absent from the board.
- Whether awoken abilities scale differently. The second-form entries use the same published format as the base kit, so the scaling stat is an inference from the format, not a statement from the board.
Update 1.0 is dated 10 October 2026 and the board is still being filled in, so expect this page to move. The update timeline tracks what has shipped and what is dated next.
Frequently asked questions
What is an awakening in Clover Time?
It is a grimoire transformation — the board calls it a Second Form. When your meter is full you press a key to transform, and the grimoire gains a second set of abilities with its own damage and cooldown numbers. It is not a separate character or a skill tree of its own.
How many Clover Time grimoires have an awakening?
Only one of the ten launch grimoires has an awakening on the official developer board today: Anti Magic, which is documented end to end. The other nine have no awakening section at all. One second case used to be listed — Battle Lightning carried two locked slots until 8 Oct 2026, when its card text was replaced by a gameplay clip — and we keep that record dated rather than presenting it as current.
How do you trigger the Anti Magic awakening?
Fill the meter, then press the (G) key to transform. The board publishes the key and the fact that the bar gates it, but does not publish how fast the bar fills or what charges it. Separately, community sources report that the Devil race is the prerequisite for the Anti-Magic awakening — that part is not on the developer board.
Do you need the Devil race for the awakening?
That is what community sources report, and it is the expensive part of the build. Devil is published at 0.1% on the race card's own rarity field and 0.2% on the board's grouping label, with no pity counter behind it — a median of roughly 693 spins. Treat it as reported rather than confirmed.
Does the awakening cost stat points?
Yes, and it is the tail of the same track rather than a separate unlock. The Anti-Magic second-form abilities are the highest-cost ones in the kit, starting at 35 points and running to 55. So you do not buy the awakening with a different currency — you get there by levelling.
Is an awakening the same thing as a race?
No. The awakening belongs to the grimoire and the race is a separate roll from the Hage Priest. They meet in exactly one place: community sources report that the Anti-Magic awakening requires the Devil race. Nothing on the developer board states a race requirement for any awakening, and the two Battle Lightning slots that used to be listed never carried one either.
Will more awakenings be added?
The board showed two more as placeholders until 8 Oct 2026, when the Battle Lightning card lost its text: two awakening slots, both locked, and no numbers behind either. Those slots are still the clearest signal that the system is being built out rather than finished, so we keep them on this page as a dated record. Update 1.0 on 10 October 2026 is the next scheduled change, and this page follows the board.
