How to Get Asta in Clover Time

Asta is not a character you unlock with one action — it is a build made of four separate parts, and three of them are independent dice rolls. Here is the order that costs you the least time, and the honest arithmetic on how long each half takes.

The four parts: Anti-Magic grimoire (Mythic, 0.5%) → all stat points into Power → Devil race (0.1% on the card field) → Anti-Magic awakening.

There is no "Asta" to unlock

This is worth saying first, because the search that brings most people here assumes a character select screen. Clover Time has none. Asta is a build: you equip the Anti-Magic grimoire and roll the Devil race, and the combination is what people mean by "playing Asta". There is no shop entry, no quest reward and no unlock button to look for.

That also means the build is not permanent in the way a character would be. Your grimoire is a roll and can be replaced; keeping it is a choice you re-make every time you spin the tower.

Step by step

#StepWhereCost / odds
1Farm Crystal ManaChests, world Mana Wolves, codes1 crystal = 1 roll
2Roll the Anti-Magic grimoireGrimoire TowerMythic band, 0.5% — guaranteed by 250 crystals
3Put every point into PowerSkill treeFree, and the most commonly missed step
4Roll the Devil raceHage Priest or the Rolls menu, with Spins0.1% on the card field, 0.2% on the board's group label — no pity
5Trigger the awakeningIn-game, once the above are in placeReported, not developer-documented

Steps 1, 2 and 4 cost different currencies, which is the part people get wrong. Crystal Mana only works at the tower; Spins only work at the priest. Farming one does nothing for the other, so the two grinds run in parallel rather than in sequence — see mana crystals and races for each route.

The two halves, and which one is actually hard

Both halves of this build are rare rolls, so it is tempting to treat them as comparable. They are not. One of them has a guaranteed ceiling and the other has none at all:

ComponentPublished rateMedian spinsSpins for a 90% chanceHard ceiling
Anti-Magic grimoire0.5%139460250 crystals (175 with Roblox Plus)
Devil race0.1% – 0.2%347 – 6931,151 – 2,302None published

Read the two rows together and the build changes shape. The grimoire is the easy half: its odds are worse per spin, but 250 crystals is a hard ceiling, and 175 if you hold Roblox Plus. You will get Anti Magic eventually, by construction.

The race is the bottleneck. There is no pity counter for race rolls, so0.1% means a median of about 693 spins and a 90% chance only inside 2,302 — about 13 times as many rolls as the book is guaranteed to take. Spins are also the currency most codes pay out, which is the one piece of good news: the race grind is the half you can subsidise for free.

Plan the grind, not the perfect roll. A workable intermediate build — any A-tier grimoire with 94.7%-odds Human replaced by a Dwarf or better — will clear content while you bank crystals and spins for the real thing. Do not reroll a functioning character into nothing.

The stat point trap

This is where most players lose their damage, and it is worth being blunt about it. Every grimoire in the structured ability data scales its spells off Power. The basic M1 attack is the single exception and scales off Strength.

So a player who dumps points into Strength will have a strong basic attack and weak spells, which feels fine for the first hour and then falls apart. Put everything into Power and leave Strength alone.

There is exactly one point threshold that matters for this build: 55 points unlocks every Anti-Magic ability. The kit is back-loaded, so the last few abilities only appear in the final stretch — which is why a low-level Anti Magic feels underwhelming even when you rolled the right book. The full unlock order is on the Anti-Magic page.

What to run while you grind

You will spend most of this build not having Anti Magic. That makes the holding pattern the important decision, not the end state:

GrimoireRarityDrop rateWhy it works as a placeholder
IceUncommon30%The best value in the game — Uncommon odds with the highest published single hit
Explosive FlameEpic3% †Ten card entries across two stances, the second-largest kit at launch
PoisonEpic3% †Equal to Anti Magic on PvE tier lists, and reaches it on three abilities
Battle LightningLegendary1.5%Legendary, six abilities and a transformation in development

† Band rate, not a per-book rate. Epic holds two books, so the 3% figure is the chance of rolling an Epic rather than Poison or Explosive Flame specifically. The developer does not publish a per-book split. See the grimoire tables for the same marker against every book.

The reasoning is arithmetic rather than preference. Anti Magic is a 0.5% roll, so every reroll before you can afford the ceiling is a 99.5% chance of moving backwards for no gain. Rolling Ice at 30% and keeping it costs you nothing and keeps you farming.

The Devil race gate

The Devil race is reported as the prerequisite for the Anti-Magic awakening. It is also the rarest race in the game, and the developer board publishes two different numbers for it — 0.10%on the card's own rarity field and 0.2% in the board's grouping labels. That is a range of one in 500 to one in 1,000 spins per attempt, with no pity to fall back on.

We keep both figures rather than picking one, because both are on the developer's own board. Devil is worth keeping on sight even if you are not chasing this build yet, since it is also simply the best race by stat line. Full detail, including the stat boosts each race grants and how special spins work, is on the races page.

For comparison, 0.56% Elf and 0.2%-to-0.1% Devil sit on opposite ends of the same roll table — so if you land Elf, you have a top-tier race and a decision to make about whether to keep spinning for the awakening.

What the finished build actually gives you

The payoff is 11 published abilities — the largest kit in the game — with Demonic Advance at 110 base damage at the top, plus the reported transformation. The ability-by-ability breakdown, including which of the eleven is the most efficient rather than the hardest-hitting, is on the Anti-Magic grimoire page.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get Asta in Clover Time?

Four parts, in order: farm mana crystals, roll the Anti-Magic grimoire at the Grimoire Tower, put every stat point into Power, and roll the Devil race at the Hage Priest for the awakening. The grimoire and the race are separate rolls with separate currencies.

Is Asta a character you can unlock in Clover Time?

No. There is no character select — Asta is a build, made by equipping the Anti-Magic grimoire and rolling the Devil race. If you were expecting a shop unlock or a quest reward, that is why you cannot find one. The two components are a grimoire roll and a race roll.

How hard is it to get the full Asta build?

Expensive, and the race is the harder half. Anti Magic is the only Mythic grimoire at 0.5%, but the tower guarantees a Mythic at 250 Crystal Mana, so the book has a ceiling. The Devil race has no pity at all and is published at 0.10% or 0.2%, which is a median of roughly 350 to 700 spins before it even lands once.

Can you play Anti Magic without the Devil race?

Yes. The grimoire works on its own and Anti Magic tops PvE tier lists regardless of race. The Devil race is reported as the prerequisite for the transformation awakening, so without it you lose the awakened form rather than the whole build.

What should I level first for an Asta build?

Power. The published Anti-Magic ability cards all scale off Power, and so does every other grimoire in the structured ability data. The M1 basic attack scales off Strength, which is why a Strength build feels fine early and then falls off hard.

How many stat points does the build need?

Every Anti-Magic ability is unlocked by 55 points, and that is the only point threshold that matters for the build. Below that you are missing abilities, and above it there is nothing left in the kit to unlock.

What should I use while grinding for Anti Magic?

Anything A-tier that you already rolled. Ice is the standout because it is only Uncommon at 30%, and Poison is equally strong if you land it. Both clear content while you bank crystals, which matters because rerolling into a weaker book mid-grind sets you back further than the upgrade can repay.
