Clover Time Mana Crystals
Mana Crystals are the currency the Grimoire Tower takes — one crystal, one roll, and nothing else in the game spends them. This page collects every route the developer actually publishes, with the drop rates attached: chests, the world Mana Wolf, three monthly subscriptions, and the codes that pay crystals directly.
What they are for
Crystal Mana exists for exactly one purpose: paying for Grimoire rolls at the Grimoire Tower. It is not the same currency as Spins, which the Hage Priest takes for race, social class and trait. The two do not convert, and that is the single most common point of confusion in the first week — the full breakdown is on the grimoires page.
The tower publishes a guaranteed-drop ladder, so the crystal cost of a target has a hard ceiling rather than just an average:
| Guaranteed tier | Crystals needed | With Roblox Plus (−30%) |
|---|---|---|
| Epic | 50 | 35 |
| Legendary | 100 | 70 |
| Mythic | 250 | 175 |
So the number worth working towards is 250 crystals for a guaranteed Mythic — or 175 if you hold Roblox Plus. Every source below is a way to get there.
Mana Crystal or Crystal Mana?
Both names are correct and they refer to the same item. The developer board is inconsistent about it: the item card is titled Mana Crystal while its own link slug reads crystal-mana; the Medium Chest drop table says crystal mana while the Big Chest table says mana crystal; and the subscriptions write Mana Crystals/month. If you searched one spelling and found this page under the other, that is why.
There is a second, separate item: Crystal Mana Frags. Frags are the material, a whole crystal is the finished thing. The distinction matters because frags drop far more often than crystals do, and the conversion between them is the practical farming loop.
Source 1 — Chests
Chests are the only free source that drops a finished crystal, and the tier matters enormously. Every published rate, straight from the chest cards:
| Chest | Crystal Mana | Quantity | Crystal Mana Frags | Frag quantity | Carry limit | Guaranteed at |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal Chest | — | — | 1.68% | 1–2 | 50 | 50 chests |
| Medium Chest | 0.38% | — | 3.1% | 5–10 | 25 | 25 chests |
| Big Chest | 6.7% | 1–7 | 8.3% | 5–25 | 10 | 10 chests |
Chests come from bosses, and the chest cards list their own sources. Higher-tier chests come from higher-tier bosses:
- Normal Chest — Salik, Earth Bandit Boss, Mana Wolf, Zora, Fire Mage Boss, Normal Chest (chests of this tier can also drop the same tier)
- Medium Chest — Mana Wolf, Zora, Fire Mage Boss, Heart Grice, Magna Swing
- Big Chest — Fire Mage Boss, Heart Grice, Magna Swing, Big Chest (chests of this tier can also drop the same tier)
The boss drop rates for chests, and the fights themselves, are on the bosses page.
Source 2 — Mana Wolf, and the trap in its name
There are two different Mana Wolves on the developer board, and they are not the same fight. This is worth knowing because it is easy to farm the wrong one:
| Mana Wolf | HP | Crystal Mana Frags | Where it is listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| World Mana Wolf | 2,500 | 30% (1–2) | Useful NPCs / Locations |
| Boss Mana Wolf | 3,750 | 5% (1–2) | Bosses (the ladder) |
The world wolf is the better farm by a wide margin — 30% versus 5%, roughly six times the rate, on a fight with two-thirds the health. The boss-tier wolf is the harder encounter and the worse fragment source, so chasing it for crystals is backwards. Its other drops do make it useful for something else: Mana Wolf Fang is a guaranteed 100% drop, and Wolf Fang is 50%.
Source 3 — World spawns
Crystals also spawn in the world, and the developer effectively confirms it through the shop rather than through documentation: both compass game passes exist purely to point at them.
| Game pass | Published effect | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Mana Compass | Points at the mana crystals for as long as it is equipped | 4,525 Robux |
| Dark Mana Compass | Points at the mana crystals for as long as it is equipped | 7,750 Robux |
That a compass costs 4,525 Robux tells you two things: the spawns are worth walking to, and they are not dense enough to find by accident. The board does not publish a spawn rate, a respawn timer or a per-zone breakdown, so this page does not guess at one — the honest answer is that nobody has published how often world crystals appear.
Source 4 — Subscriptions
Three of the monthly subscriptions grant crystals on a schedule. These are the only guaranteed source in the game — everything else is a dice roll:
| Subscription | Crystals / month | Spins / month | Price | Also |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arcane Elite | 8 | 40 | 3,999 Robux/mo | — |
| Clover Elite | 3 | 15 | 1,299 Robux/mo | — |
| Royal Member | 1 (count not stated) | 5 | 399 Robux/mo | — |
| Roblox Plusneeds Roblox Premium | none | — | Roblox Premium | 30% lower pity — the only way to reduce the Mythic ceiling |
Two things worth separating here. The crystals are convenient but slow — Arcane Elite pays 8 a month, so a free-to-play player farming world wolves will out-earn it well before the month is out. What you cannot get any other way is the pity reduction: Roblox Plus is the subscription the Grimoire Tower card refers to, it cuts the pity ladder by 30%, and it is not sold in-game at all — it activates for people who already hold Roblox Premium. That drops a guaranteed Mythic from 250 crystals to 175.
Source 5 — Codes
Most Clover Time codes pay spins, not crystals, which is worth knowing before you go hunting — spins cannot be spent at the tower. A few do pay Crystal Mana directly:
1KLIKES— 25 Spins, 10 Normal Chests and 1 Crystal ManaBETARELEASE— 1 Big Chest, 50 Spins and 5 Crystal ManaFIRSTSHUTDOWN— 25 Spins and 5 Crystal Mana70KFAVSWOW!— 5 Spins and 5 Crystal Mana
That is 4 codes out of the full list, so codes are a top-up rather than a farming strategy for crystals. The live list, with expiry dates and verified rewards, is on the codes page.
Source 6 — Crafting and fishing (community-reported)
This is the part the developer has not documented. There is a Craft Point entry on the board, so the system exists, but its card is empty — no recipe, no cost, no bench location. Player reports fill the gap: crystals are crafted from collected fragments, and fishing is a slower alternative route to the same fragments.
One piece of the loop is official, and it lines up: the Normal Chest drop table publishes potatoes at 8.99%, and the widely repeated recipe is fragments plus potatoes. So the chests that are worst for finished crystals are still part of the crafting chain through their potato and fragment drops. Treat the exact recipe numbers as community-reported and confirm them at the bench.
Which route to actually use
Ranked by what the published rates imply, for a free player:
- World Mana Wolves — 30% fragments, repeatable, and the highest published fragment rate in the game. This is the default farm.
- Big Chests — the only chest that drops finished crystals at a usable rate (6.7%, 1–7 each). They come from Fire Mage Boss, Heart Grice and Magna Swing, so they arrive as a by-product of late-ladder boss runs.
- Codes — 1KLIKES and BETARELEASE and FIRSTSHUTDOWN and 70KFAVSWOW! are free crystals for typing a word. Check the codes page before you start a session.
- World spawns — worth picking up when you pass one, not worth hunting without a compass.
- Medium Chests — 0.38% for a finished crystal. Take them when they drop, do not farm them for crystals.
- Subscriptions — guaranteed but slow (8/month at the top tier). Buy for the pity reduction, not for the crystals.
Frequently asked questions
How do you get Mana Crystals in Clover Time?
Six published routes. The fastest repeatable one is the world Mana Wolf, which drops Crystal Mana Frags at 30%. Big Chests drop finished Mana Crystals directly at 6.7% for 1–7 at a time. Medium Chests also drop them, but only at 0.38%. Paid routes are the three monthly subscriptions, which grant 8, 3 and 1 crystal a month.
Are Mana Crystal and Crystal Mana the same thing?
Yes. The developer board uses both word orders for the same item — the item card is titled "Mana Crystal" while its own link slug is crystal-mana, and chest drop tables use "crystal mana" on one chest and "mana crystal" on another. Both search terms find the same thing.
What are Mana Crystal Frags for?
They are the material that becomes Crystal Mana. Frags drop far more often than finished crystals — 30% from a world Mana Wolf versus 6.7% from a Big Chest — so the practical route is to farm frags and convert them. The conversion recipe is community-reported rather than developer-published.
What is the best way to farm Mana Crystals for free?
Fight world Mana Wolves. They are the only mob with a published fragment rate that high — 30% for 1–2 frags, and their mana fang drop is a guaranteed 100%. The boss-tier Mana Wolf on the boss ladder drops the same fragments at only 5%, so it is a worse farm for this specific material despite being the harder fight.
Do you need to pay for Mana Crystals?
No. Everything except the subscriptions is free — chests from bosses, world wolves, and codes. 4 codes pay Crystal Mana directly (1KLIKES and BETARELEASE and FIRSTSHUTDOWN and 70KFAVSWOW!), and the rest of the code payouts are spins and chests.
How many Mana Crystals does a Mythic grimoire take?
Each roll costs one Crystal Mana, and the Grimoire Tower publishes a guaranteed Mythic at 250. Roblox Plus, which requires an active Roblox Premium subscription, cuts that by 30% to 175. There is no cheaper ceiling than that.
Do Mana Crystals spawn in the world?
Yes — that is what the compass game passes are for. Both Mana Compass and Dark Mana Compass are described on the developer board as pointing at mana crystals while equipped. A compass that costs 4,525 Robux only makes sense if crystals spawn in the world and are worth walking to.
